About Me

Karina Juarez

We keep objects in which we have deposited our memories; we fear oblivion and better anchor the memory to something physical to avoid falling into it. The memories seem to be more durable if we can look at them as a toy on a shelf, in our the dress of the grandmother, the tattoo on the skin, on a ring or even including on a rock; To not lose our memories, any part of reality is comfortable for us. Memory is so wise and so deceptive, that sometimes we end up transforming the object into memory, and the loss of that supposes the loss of the moment in our head. As time passes in addition to the memories we accumulate a great amount of objects that become a physical file of our life and our time. Karina Juárez, through her pictorial work, to investigate the feelings that live in those memories in forms of objects, insinuates us that memory is trapped in plastic, wood, glass, skin or in any inch of verifiable physical reality; caught not as a prisoner but as trusting stay in something. The work of the artist is based on memory and on the way in which humans learned the essential characteristics of our memories and some objects that allow us an easy evocation of the longed for past.
