Roberto Espinosa

Mexican artist, born in the city of Puebla, who starts his art studies at the sculpture workshops of the Popular Autonomous University of Puebla (UPAEP), of the House of Culture of the city of Puebla, and teachers artists and artisans of the town. He has taken classes with teachers from the National School of Fine Arts (ENAP), Academy of San Carlos-UNAM, of the Esmeralda (INBA), University Iberoamerican, UDLA, among others. He has exposed official institutes as cultural workshops of the ISSSTEP, Universities, National Prize of the Ceramics (Gdl, Jalisco), and private galleries. The presentation start within the art circuit with the individual exhibition I RETURN TO ONE, at Garco Gallery, with a series of ceramic sculptures. He often uses clay as a sculptural material, making use of different lands of Mexico and the region. The burning of the work and the decoration with the glazes is done both in gas oven as electric, and it's a very artisanal and interesting process. His recent pictorial work is mainly made in Oil on Canvas, and the use of textures and natural materials. His recent work reminds us of primitivist art, and art-brut, art that gave a good start to artistic avant-garde, and to aspects such as cubism, or the fruit of this heritage in artists such as Tapies, Barceló, Basquiat, Dubufett, Toledo, Hernàndez, etc. His work shares a strong gravity and physical presence, he loves the physical weight of the matter, and is seen in its use of ancestral materials such as mud, earth, etc., and in its use of recent Mass elements such as the use of oil, and industrialists of the 21st century.

Artista mexicano, nacido en la ciudad de Puebla, que inicia sus estudios de arte en los talleres de escultura de la Universidad Popular Autónoma de Puebla (UPAEP), de la Casa de Cultura de la ciudad de Puebla, y maestros artistas y artesanos de su localidad. Ha tomado clases con maestros de la escuela nacional de artes plásticas (ENAP), Academia de San Carlos-UNAM, de la Esmeralda (INBA), Universidad Iberoàmericana, UDLA, entre otros. Ha expuesto es institutos oficiales como talleres culturales del ISSSTEP, Universidades, Premio Nacional de la Cerámica (Gdl, Jalisco), y galerías privadas. Inicia su presentación dentro del circuito del arte con la exposición individual REGRESO A UNO, en Garco Gallery, con una serie de esculturas cerámicas. Suele usar el barro como material escultórico, haciendo uso de distintas tierras de México y la región. La quema de la obra y la decoración con los esmaltes se hace tanto en horno de gas como eléctrico, y es un proceso bastante artesanal e interesante. Su obra pictórica reciente se encuentra realizada principalmente en Óleo sobre Tela, y el uso de texturas y materiales naturales. Su trabajo reciente nos recuerda al arte primitivista, y el art-brut, arte que diò buen inicio a vanguardias artísticas, y a vertientes como el cubismo, ò el fruto de esta herencia en artistas como Tapies, Barceló, Basquiat, Dubufett, Toledo, Hernàndez, etc. Su obra comparte una fuerte gravedad y presencia física, le encanta el peso físico de la materia, y se ve en su uso de materiales ancestrales como barro, tierras, etc, y en su uso de elementos Mass recientes como el uso del óleo, e industriales del siglo XXI.
